Considering that I am my own boss, I have the freedom to ponder things any time I feel like it. When I used to work for someone else, I was expected to stay on task and accomplish the goals my boss was buying my time for me to do. Do you get that? When you work for someone else, you are selling them your time. Add up all you time and that equals to your life. Employees actually sell their very lives in exchange for money. Yikes! That thought even scares me. Another thought I've pondered is why people choose to struggle and stay broke when there is a simpler way.
Given that I am a student of The Bible, I am very familiar with the creation stories in Genesis. There we learn that God created man and woman in his very image and put them in a lush garden where all their needs were simply met. He put only one requirement on them and that was to abstain from eating the fruit of one tree. They could eat freely from all the other trees, just not the one. Pretty simple assignment, right? So why did they choose to try it their way instead and as a result end up struggling for the rest of their lives? Obviously, I don't have a simple answer to this question. Theologically, it involves the fact that people want to be like God. But since we know we can't, the next question I ponder is how can I get back to living simply like God intended for me to.
Okay, so what does living simply actually look like? Does it involve a job? A lot of money? A home of my own? Feeling productive? Doing the things I enjoy rather than doing what I abhor? You may be wondering why having a lot of money simplifies life. Quite simply, broke people are always worrying and struggling to get by while wealthy people can relax and focus on what they enjoy without having to worry about paying for food, clothing, shelter, etc.
The next obvious question I ask myself is how can I find a way to live simply yet abundantly. Obviously, I can't achieve this by selling my time (life) for money someone else pays me out of their earnings. And I can't simply sit back and expect riches to fall into my lap. So I have to DO something, right? Well, what can I do? The obvious answer is to own the business and not work for the owner. I don't want to spend the time and money required for a franchise - that's not simple enough for me. Nor is a brick and mortar business. So I continued to look and found my current business which is network marketing. Professors at Harvard Business School will tell you that network marketing is the purest and most lucrative form of free enterprise.
Does the possibility of five figures a month appeal to you? Some of my friends in our company are making six figures a month but five figures currently satisfies my needs. If either of these goals sounds appealing to you, contact me. Life and business were created to be simple and I am grateful to have found that out sooner rather than later.
To your success.
